ABOUT

Alistair Robertson - Film and TV composer based in London, UK

Alistair Robertson

Based in London, UK, Alistair has worked as composer and/or orchestrator on a wide variety of projects – including projects for the BBC, Sony, EA, and Sky among many others. From full orchestras, to rock bands, to Musical Theatre pit ensembles – he demonstrates clear command of a range of idioms. His style is influenced heavily by his formal classical training, yet is balanced with a rich, modern cinematic sound.

He has worked with award winning composer Ilan Eshkeri (Stardust, Shaun the Sheep, Kick-Ass), having worked on recent projects such as A Perfect Planet (David Attenborough for the BBC), Ghost of Tsushima (video game), Informer (BBC), The White Crow and Riviera (Sky). Alistair recently collaborated with Andy Burrows (Razorlight, After Life) on music for The Platinum Party at the Palace as part of Her Majesty The Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations, to a TV audience of 13.3m people.

Alistair wrote two compositions (Sum of All Parts and Gugnunc) for the grand opening of Mathematics: The Winton Gallery at the Science Museum in London, and recently had his piece Elegie for Solo Violoncello premiered by Andrew Shulman (Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra) as part of the LAFCI New Music Project. He is a regular contributor of music for 'Essential Audiobooks', as well as several music production libraries.

He has recorded music at Abbey Road, AIR Studios, the Eastwood Scoring Stage (Warner Brothers), and the Synchron Stage in Vienna. He has had pieces performed by the Hollywood Studio Symphony Orchestra, the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra, Xenia Pestova, Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, and the Royal College of Music Film Orchestra, and has workshopped with Conrad Pope (Mortal Engines, Isle of Dogs, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Star Wars Episodes I–III), William Ross (Ready Player One, Rogue One, The Hunger Games), Alastair King (Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Downton Abbey, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince), and Joe Kraemer (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, Jack Reacher).
